Why ?
It all begins with an idea, a hobby, or maybe a little bit of both.
My wife an I have been fostering children for the last seven years. We have had seven young boys in all, with us being lucky enough to adopt our two sons out of foster care in 2022.
We have always supported the foster care community, but always spoke about doing something more.
I have been an on and off comic collector for many years…but had stepped away from the hobby while having many little ones come in and out of our lives. Our oldest, Troy, is a massive fan of superheros and all things such. He is the one that started the “itch” for me once again. Locating and purchasing Imaginext figures and playsets, or books. This led me back into the comic collecting world….and what better way to support the hobby than to provide the same feeling for all of these children, going through some very difficult adjustments.
The goal of foster care is always to see this child reunified with their biological families when ready… but those times don’t always come quickly, if at all for many children. This is where the support of not only the foster parents, but also the entire community is so amazingly invaluable.
We have seen many Foster Care Support programs in action and let me tell you I don’t know how foster children/parents would get though the tough times without their assistance. This is why we want to help, and where the idea of Fostered Comics was born.
